Shooting Spree Photography

Hello and thank you for visiting my website. Firstly, you might ask, “Why the name Shooting Spree Photography?” Yes I understand that it might be a rather morbid/quirky name to have. However, my foray into photography began from the wildlife perspective. I would stalk birds and wait patiently for them to appear. Most of the time, I would wait for hours and on a couple of occasions, days even. If the bird shows up, the camera trigger is squeezed hard with adrenaline and excitement. I love wildlife and nature and sincerely believe in the preservation of these by ‘shooting’ through a camera and not a rifle. That was how the name came about.

More About Me

As mentioned above, my other hobbies include wildlife and landscape photography. My instagram handle for that side of things is @kachang90 should you be interested to check it out. In addition I play football (Manchester United Rocks!) and loooooove scuba diving. I need a good cuppa to start my day off and I am still waiting for the day when I can own a few dogs, cats, birds, fish and any other animal you would like to chuck in there.

Journey as a Photographer

I embarked on my professional photography services in 2012 in Singapore. Subsequently, my wife and I moved to Darwin in 2016 following which I formally initiated Shooting Spree Photography. I am a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP) and in 2017 and 2018, was awarded the Northern Territory Emerging Photographer of the Year for 2 years in a row as well as the Northern Territory Documentary Photographer of the Year in 2019. This has indeed been great encouragement, although appreciation from clients have been most meaningful. Each day I continue to learn from the best photographers in the international wedding scene and I am very happy to share my knowledge with anyone who wants to have a chat.

My style

My style of photography is mostly natural. I believe it is important for you to be yourself during your special day and to enjoy the moments without much intrusion. I also understand how it might be awkward for some to have someone pointing this large monstrosity at them and recording their every move. I feel it is important to establish a rapport with my clients as I would like for them to feel comfortable in front of me and my camera. It is for this reason that I meet my clients soon after they engage my services, so we know each other better and I can learn their style preferences.
